Saying Goodbye, Saying Thank You

Since the beginning of 2014 the transpersonal community has lost several pioneers and teachers. Sharanya Naik has put together an Inner Door PDF issue collecting articles and remembrances about four of these who have now traveled further on in their journeys: Angelis Arrien, HR Giger, Alexander Shulgin, and Christina Grof. A link to the pdf is here.

Lyme Disease and the Inner Journey

by Anne Høivik

Edited and posted by Alysson TrofferThe Inner Door Editor, InnerDoor (at) ahbi.org

In this article, I want to share my experiences with chronic Lyme disease and its coinfections in connection with the inner journey. I believe chronic Lyme is an infection that challenges the core of one's personality and that every individual must find his or her personal way of healing. My own experience is certainly colored by my earlier experiences in life: in education, work, relationships, inner life, art, literature, etc.

My history with Lyme disease began in the summer of 2000. I got a tick bite with a serious infection and was given a short course of antibiotic treatment, which seemingly cured the infection. At that time, I had…

After the Breathing...

by Chris Robedee

[Editor’s Note: This article was originally published in the February 2010 issue of The Inner Door.]

I never found it enough to have a Holotropic, or mystical or satori, etc. experience. Everything depends on what a person does with that experience, how a person carries it forward. Today a saint, tomorrow a sinner. Life is a process. Eternity echoes only as life reflects it. The flame of love unnourished dies.

After the breathing, the bodywork, the drawing, and the sharing, most facilitators remind participants that the rest of the world has not…

Dear Holotropic Breathwork community!

I would like to share this mandala from a Holotropic Breathwork session in Denmark in 1997. Even though it is more than 10 years ago, this experience is still clear and present—as if it is beyond time.

The Journey

I have left my physical body on the ground, and it feels like a “lump”—or a dead body.

My soul is connected through a string of energy, while “I” am sitting in my “Spirit Canoe” and drifting gently along The River of Life. On each side of…

Jaguar, Water, Spiritual Warrior, Monk, Mountain, Eagle

by Grace Victoria

[Editor’s Note: This article was originally published in the February 2010 issue of The Inner Door.]

Hitting the wall of midlife crises compelled me to seek out an experiential mode of therapy. Talk therapy was helping me to intellectually sort through my past, but I intuitively felt that I needed something more. Through reading Embodying Spirit, I found Jacquelyn Small and the Eupsychia Institute. Upon arriving at a six-day retreat, I really had no idea what to expect. However, I knew I was in the right place because when I read about the workshop on the Eupsychia web site (www.eupsychia.com), my soul was jumping up and down saying, “I want to go! I want to go!”

My first…

Health, Spirituality, and Breathing: From Grof to Buteyko

by Karey Pohn, AHBI Board Member

Edited and posted by Alysson TrofferThe Inner Door Editor, InnerDoor (at) ahbi.org

I recently had the opportunity to interview Sasha Yakovleva-Fredricksen, the Executive Director of BreathingCenter.com. Her company is the official representation of Clinica Buteyko™ in Moscow, and it focuses on helping people to normalize their breathing. I have found this work to be profound and fascinating, and felt that anyone would benefit from knowing about it, especially AHBI members.

In this interview, readers learn of Sasha’s spiritual journey, and the role that Dr. Stanislav Grof and Holotropic Breathwork played in the process. Sasha then shares the fascinating healing journey that she took with her husband when he suffered debilitating…

Encountering the Feminine

Hello. First of all, I want to apologize for my English. I hope that all I’m writing down is clear for everyone. I am willing to share these lines just to connect with all of you, to feel that all of our personal journeys are maybe just one and that all can help and be helped.

I would like to share a very subtle but maybe important experience that runs through my personal breathwork sessions and recently in my everyday life.

Since the beginning of my sessions, I have been having experiences relating to an…
