Profile Information

What is your interest in Holotropic Breathwork? (This will be shown on your public profile.)
I have a long-standing academic interest in the philosophical issues and assumptions associated with holotropic breathwork and, more broadly, with transpersonal psychology. I was certified as a facilitator in 2003.
Tell the other community members something about yourself. (You can change or expand this later in your Profile.)
I have had a career as a university professor, with training especially in the history of American thought and culture, and as a dean of students. For over twenty years I served as a teacher and residential college dean at Yale University, and after that in similar capacities at the Universidad de las Américas in Puebla, Mexico. Currently I am working with Wisdom University, as Director, professor, and member of the Academic Council. My research interests are focused in transpersonal thought, particularly in its historical development. I was certified as a holotropic breathworker in 2003. After 14 years of living in Mexico, my wife Ginger Clarkson and I are at the point of returning to the United States, to my home town of Houston. Ginger, I should mention, is a music therapist and a primary trainer of the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music (GIM), as well as a teacher of Vipassana meditation. Together, we offer occasional workshops combining Breathwork with GIM and/or meditation.
How has the practice of breathwork affected your life and work? ( This will be shown on your public profile.)
While I occasionally facilitate workshops, I am not a psychotherapist by profession. The practice of breathwork and the writings of Stan Grof, however, have been significant influences in my evolving conception of life and reality, in, I might say, setting my intellectual direction. I have found the practice of breathwork particularly helpful in clarifying issues in my life, and in releasing creative energies.

Mark -- yes. As a matter of fact, it has just solidified in the last day that I will be attending both modules in Taos in August, as an apprentice. This is very exciting for me. I do hope you can make it. I enjoyed getting to know you last summer and would love to get to know you better. Of course, I'll be protecting my shoes!

warmly, Kevin (econoshamanic)

Hola Mark!

Hi Mark

Your involvement in our visioning process was very helpful.

I hope that you enjoy this flowering of that effort.
