The Spirit of Exploration: Holotropic Breathwork Retreat at Academy for the Love of Learning

October 19, 2017 to October 22, 2017
Holotropic Breathwork is a simple, but profound method for expanding self-awareness offering the possibility of (re)discovering one’s self through experiences and perspectives that are uncommon in everyday life. The breathwork session is a portal through which to open to what is within yourself that is ready to be explored, whether that is something needing to be known and healed, or a deep insight, or long held feelings to be expressed. Profile Information

What is your interest in Holotropic Breathwork? (This will be shown on your public profile.)
Stan's description of Holotropic Breathwork as a 'technology of the sacred' fits beautifully for me. My interest in breathwork is in its potential as a methodology for deep, intentional and learning - about ourselves, and our existence in the web of life. Healing is a necessary part of learning, and HB is most certainly a brilliant modality for bringing awareness and transformation to those parts of ourselves that long for wholeness, but first and foremost my orientation towards HB is as a practice for inquiry and transformation.

My passion as well as my 'day job' is in the field of transformative learning - how we can intentionally explore and open up our deeply held assumptions and beliefs about how things are - in order to experience more freedom, and more choice, and more compassion. Life seems very full, mysterious and unexpected - much to be grateful for, and much to learn... loving the blessed details - birdsong, rain, smell of sage, heart-full friends, wild laughter in the pub, dancing in the desert...
How has the practice of breathwork affected your life and work? ( This will be shown on your public profile.)
My first breathworks back in 1989 literally changed my life - from that point on i knew that i could trust my inner knowing - body, energy, inner vision. The practice, and the set and setting for this approach to learning and healing, inform everything that i do. Being a sitter, in particular, has been a profound teaching.
