What is your interest in Holotropic Breathwork? (This will be shown on your public profile.)
I love breathwork! For seven years, I was the editor of The Inner Door, which was published by the Association for Holotropic Breathwork International (AHBI). AHBI morphed into the current Grof Foundation.
Tell the other community members something about yourself. (You can change or expand this later in your Profile.)
I became the editor of The Inner Door in 2007. In addition to breathwork, I use other forms of inner work including Somatic Archaeology, the Emotion Code, and the Emotional Freedom Technique (also known as "tapping"). I live in coastal North Carolina.
How has the practice of breathwork affected your life and work? ( This will be shown on your public profile.)
Breathwork has helped me tremendously on all levels: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. If it weren't for breathwork, I might have never left my corporate job in 2012 to pursue my own writing interests.
Do you have a web site address for community members to find out more about you?
Sorry, sorry Allyson - I only saw our comment today. I am not so much into all these sharing-sites - like this, and facebook. Anything I write here - you are welcome to share. Also my very special upcoming holotropicbreathwork workshop-retreat in the Sinai desert( see EVENTS). My son just put it on for me.
kindest greetings from my desert out-post
Thanks very much, that's very flattering that you would like to publish my sharing, of course you can, it would be an honour for me. I could actually expand on some points if you'd like me to, or conversely feel free to cut it down a bit.
Me again. How do I feel ? It is difficult to describe but I am more complete in my sense of who I am. Probably more accepting and compassionate of myself and subsequently others. I am more at peace and able to detach myself from my emotions and look more objectively at a situation. This has not been achieved with just this one experience but in a process using a variety of modalities.
I also believe I had a Kundalini awakening at my last Breathwork session in February in Victoria BC. I had the sensation of vibrating energy moving up through my core and chakras from the root to the throat and then out my outstretched arms and hands. I at first thougt the vibration was due to the loud music and the speakers on the floor only to realize that there were no speakers on the floor - they were at ceiling level! It was unlike anything that I have experienced before. All of this was preceded by a long and prolonged tetany in both arms and hands and in the pelvic area. I had an incredible release that found me vocalizing to the music and then heaving and sobbing tears. I haven't felt the same in this skin of mine since.
I am a HB practitioner. I recently returned from a 17 days stay at Fires Creek with Tav and other wonderful people from ther HBW community. During my stay I shared several of my poems that I have written over the past 10 years. They were well received and they suggested I connect with you about possibly publishing some of them in the Inner Door. I am in the process of completing the editing on a book of poetry I have been working on since 2000. If you could offer any guidance about publication, I would be very grateful for your comments. Thanks so much. I can be reached through email at firstname.lastname@example.org or through ABHI. Best, Laurane McGlynn
Thank you for inviting me as a friend in The Holotropic Community.
In these times, when so many crises are coming to the surface in our world, it means a lot to have friends and build community.
So nice to hear from you. Yes, my trip home was interesting...to say the least. But, I made it. Sounds like yours had it's own ups and downs too. I'm doing well now. My first couple days back were a bit rocky. I'm so glad I got to meet you. I hope you are well.
