Grace and Ale,

Just lost a post. Will do my best to reconstruct it.

The Mandala is the beginning. It is whole and of itself complete, and... It is a first awakening for me, not the last of the image(s) that come to me in a Breathwork session. The Mandala is indispensable, but not exclusive. A Mandala is an invitation to expanded art forms that move an awakening 'to knowing' to an integration 'of knowing'. Insights have leapt off of every Mandala paper I have over every year that I have saved them--all 43 sessions.

The Mandala is a unique experientially based 'opening' to our past as it is in the moment at hand. Holotropic Art, the seeds of the Mandala blossom, take 'first knowing' to behavior modification integration. The Mandala is the porthole to first glimpse into our deep worlds, whereas Holotropic Art is the expression of the wider web of life with the Mandala at its Center, but the circumference infinite with emerging Holotropic Art over time. HBHA! (H)olotropic(B)reathwork (H)olotropic (A)rt) is like an AHA! that reverberates over time in the psyche like the sound of creation still echos in the ethers. My walls of Holotropic Art are an incessantly chattering community each asking for attention.

To migrate a Mandala from Breathwork session, to in-your-face refrigerator door posting, for a week or two, and then to the darkness of a drawer, is like turning the light off in the room when a child is smiling. The Mandala is a bit like the faces of infinity pressing to recovery three dimensions through the Akashic tapestry--screaming to be seen again beyond one dimension.

After all the Mandala came out of the Universal, the Collective, so its images call out to the rest of the Collective, the Universal. First light of day is beautiful as it first appears, but once the Sun rises there is much more beauty to behold.

So HUBA! HUBA! to Mandala Inspired Art...Holotropic Universal Breathwork Art.;-)

Welcome Thomas,

Thank you for sharing your art and joining our group. I appreciate your comment about "art .. is a portal..." these words bring the art part of the breathwork alive and capture it as an ongoing process rather than a representation of a particular breathwork session. Thank you for that insight.

Looking forward to the dialog. Art, be it Mandala Art after HB or Art that follows days, weeks or months later from felt integration spurts put into poetry, visual art, etc., are all a part of the HB efficacy. Art related to my meaning and purpose is a portal to return to or revisit the space and states that have past, but still reverberate for years. I capture the steps in my journey one piece of art at a time. Thomas Merton Brightman 443-986-6004

Hi Grace! Hi Everyone!

From my expirience, thanks to HB, to my inner work and to the process of other people, I noticed that any creative tool in between the breathworks, helps the inner comunication and integration. For example: in my case, if I just paint a vase or a bowl fruit after 15 days of the breathwork, it will always have something about my state of that moment. You can see it on the colours, on the painting, or the material that I use to paint... and it’s more evident if I work with the automatism! Also, if we take a look back of that creative process we’ll find a symbolic reading of our own path or process. Besides, this helps us to appreciate the whole process in its unity and not in fragments. Discover that, for me it’s just wonderful!

A big hug to everyone,

Ale.

He Grace! y hola a todos...

Ale

Hey ya'll,

I echo Ale's welcome. What art projects are you all working on? I have found that creating symbolic art (not with breathwork sessions) is helpful emotionally and psychologically. Lately I have been setting aside one afternoon on the weekends to some form of innerwork and symbolic art. Lately I've been practicing Jung's active imagination then creating art. It's not the same as breathworking in a group, but it is a way to commune with the inner world on your own. It's been insightful and creative. I especially appreciate the creative aspect of playing with the paint. If this sounds basic it's because for me at this point it is very basic. Color paints and using my fingers to paint on the paper! I'd like to hear what ya'll do artistically in between attending breathwork groups.

With much gratitude,
Grace
