Our first guest speaker of the semester will explore the astounding work of Stanislav Grof, M.D.; the pioneering LSD psychotherapist whom Albert Hoffman has referred to as the 'godfather of LSD'. Dr. Grof himself as someone who came to spirituatlity through his explorations with psychedelic medicines. Dr. Grof's groundbreaking explorations into the psychedelic experience and it's therapeutic applications have had an immeasurable impact on our understanding of these compounds and their potentialities.
After supervising 4000+ LSD-assisted therapy sessions in Czechoslovakia and America, and consolidating the observations of his colleagues, Grof developed a comprehensive framework of the range of experiences that are possible with LSD and their relationship to individual growth and development. He has written many highly influential books on the topic, including the seminal 'LSD Psychotherapy'. After LSD became outlawed, he and his wife Christina sought to continue bringing profound healing to their patients and developed Holotropic Breathwork, a route to non-ordinary states of consciousness distilled from traditional practices and their extensive work with psychedelics.
Local Holotropic Breathwork practitioner Carolyn Green will be expounding on Grof's incredible contributions over the past 50 years(and counting!) employing video footage from the upcoming documentary Journey of Consciousness.
Stan remains both a foundational and driving force behind today's psychedelic renaissance, and the wisdom and insight he has to share
